It is with great pleasure that I have been allowed to host the first pictures of the long awaited First London Omnicitys for the Route 207, with the permission from
Jamie V. So I must stress that these photos are strictly prohibited for download. I recommend you take a look at his excellent photostream;

First London SN36035, SN36036 and SN36034. |
As stated above the new Omnicitys are for the Route 207 which runs between Hayes By Pass and White City Bus Station. When TFL announced that the Route 207 had been respectively retained by First, most of us had it in our minds that it would either be DNs (E400s) or VN (Volvo Gemini 2 B9TL) on orders. However both manufacturers had previously announced that their factories had hit maximum capacity. So enthusiasts like myself were left in the balance. Then in late July of 2011 First announced that they had chosen Scania as the manufacturer for the Route 207 Buses. Again we were shocked as First London have not gone with the Scania Chassis ever before.The reasoning for it was due to the fact, First considered as Scania cheapest leasing price over a period of 5 years. It really does make we wonder why First never chose Optare due to the fact they would provide pretty much the same leasing price but with better quality Buses but that's a whole different story. In total there are 39 Buses numbered between SN36031 - SN36069 and the 3 vehicles above are pictured at Scania's Worksop factory in Nottinghamshire prior to being delivered to First's Hayes Garage in West London.

What Optare double deckers could first have got for December?

And if Scania were cheapest option, why would First look at Optare? What was the last Scania that First used in London? I'm racking my brains and struggling to think.

My mistake, I was certain that First ordered Scanias before but I was mistaken. I'll correct it when I get home.

I know that First have ordered a lot of Scania Omnicity single deckers (both rigid and artics) outside London, but don't think they've ever had any Scania products in London...

Correct on that count. First Beeline(as i know them)operate Scania buses at Bracknell and until recently coaches on the 702. From memory,no other Scanias are on order for FirstGroup.

These look very similiar to the Stagecoach versions except for the new front bumper fog lights. I thought since the last orders for scanias in London were 15172 and 15173 which were 10 reg from Stagecoach (East London Then) i thought there would be some changes to the vehicles exterior design or something
