Watford Gap Services: The new DEs for London Sovereign...Route 251

Here are the first pictures of the long awaited Enviro 200s destined for London Sovereign for both of their Harrow (SO) and Edgware (BT) Bases. The delivery of these two vehicles pictured at the Watford Gap in Northamptonshire are the first of a 43 strong order of new Buses for the gained Route 251 and retained Routes; H9,H10,H11,H14 and H17.

The Buses are considerably early as their contracted work will start in September this year, nevertheless they are happily welcomed. They are the first batch of new vehicles to be ordered by London Sovereign following their split from London United. They do not have the new 'Enviro style lights' but do have the new bumper which makes them look very sharp indeed.

The contracts for which these have been ordered all start on 3 September, but yes, they're still very early!

BTW the fleet numbers don't follow on from London United fleet numbers - they follow on from the highest-numbered DE with London Sovereign (DE56). London United have already used fleet numbers DE57 upwards for the former NCP/NSL Enviro200s.

Where will these buses be stored in the mean time? because SO & BT have know space, and the split from London United means they can park them at Hounslow Heath Or Twickenham

I think you find the split means that they cannot freely park them at Hounslow Heath (HH) or Twickenham (TC). What probably will happen is, they will park at CELF or Harrow (SO).

I have a funny feeling the orders have been mixed up with Stagecoach, they seem to have everything for a Stagecoach bus, the orange bars, dark blue dash board.

They seriously do, easily can be mistaken for a Stagecoach Bus but maybe they were built to Stagecoach specification. Who remembers the case of MLF122 AJ02 ZRY?

MLF122 was destroyed in a fire whilst on the C11 in Summer of 2009. The DEs for the 274 will arrive in September I am told. The 19 and 249 have unconfirmed vehicle orders.

You have to give these things time, the contract was only announced last week! One thing I do know is the 19 will be getting 16 Hybrid double deckers as part of the contract.

They don't need to store all of them, some are replacing DPS on Harrow routes so could replace these as soon as commissioned. More likely the displaced DPS will go to storage. I'm not sure but I think some of the DPS fleet were originally bought by London United (before Transdev) so might still be owned by them, and on hire to London Sovereign.

Transdev own all of them I believe. Transdev acquired London United in 1997. Some of the DPS's are currently being refurbished. DPS633 and DPS634 have already been done.

The orders are not confused because Transdev have changed their standee colours from light blue to orange. Saw one of their refurbished Dennis Darts on the H9 (SK02 XHJ) with orange standees so I think that is the case.

Standees is the term given to the number of passengers on a Bus. However in Neil's case he is talking about the handrails, which are orange.

They will enter service asap.

Why the heck did Transdev change pole colours and are the seat pattern the same or different.

Do you know if these DE's have Recieved Transdev Branding.

Seats will stay the same - they changed their pole colours because London United use the same colour currently so Transdev changed it, so it will be easier to distinguish between the two companies.

Oh and yes I meant the handrails sorry.

could anyone tell me why Alexander Dennis make still arent making their enviro 200s with the new face. (new light clusters and bumper.etc.) is it the company that orders them not wanting the facelifted versions of the model or have lots of the older parts still to be sold? i dunno! for example these new ones have only new bumper whilst First`s examples have the new lights and bumper and Stagecoach have the complete older look of the buses.
