Metroline CELF Center Part 21

I finished my College course for the year and decided that I might as well visit CELF Center again to see if anything new is happening. Now to your left you will see a picture of VW1177 LK11 CXM which is part of the batch for the Route 105 which the company will take over in July. A keen eye is not even needed to see that this Bus is blinded for the 297. However it won't be long  until these VWs become a regular occurrence on this route due to the fact that Metroline have placed an order for 12 VWs for Perivale West Garage to standardize the Bus types at the Garage.

The remaining TEs (897,898,899,900,901,902,903,904,905,906,907 and 908) will all be sent to Cricklewood (W) to oust the remaining T and V reg TAs which will then go to Engisnbus of Thurrock. Minor news suggested that Metroline may in fact go for the MCV D103LE or the Optare Olympus next year if contracts are retained. Both bodies will be on the Volvo B9TL Chassis.

It's unconfirmed as yet but the order has been placed and they will be arriving early next year.

whats gonna happen to the scanias? are they gonna go back to PV?

The Scanias will be staying at PA, only 12 VWs have been ordered. So the 297 will become SEL/VW operation. The SELs will be refurbished however.

Any updates on the DEs for 274.Plus I take it that the TEs from 297 will convert 32 to TE operations.

I said in another post that the DEs for the 274 are due any day now.

No the TEs from PA will allow the TAs to disappear of all W routes, not just the 32. The 32 will remain TAL operation.

Its such a shame that 297 is getting VW's last time new VW's replaced the TE's on the E2 and now they are replacing the TE's on the 297 has Metroline lost an interest on the E400's and by the way VW's dont suit Metroline

Jay says:

It's because Metroline are switching to a better bus body and fully converting their operations to Volvo chassis. So in small garages where they can convert Buses to Volvo's easily, they will do so.

The last point about VWs not suiting Metroline is your opinion not a fact.

E400s are poorly built and too dam common.

Do you know what routes (if retained) Metroline will use DD103LE and optare olympuses?

Jay says:
at: Saturday, June 18, 2011 9:31:00 pm said...

Plus do you know when the NEW batch of TEH are due for 139 and what Metroline are going to with the existing batch for 139 and was Metroline the first company to order both the E400 AND E400H?

Jay says:
at: Saturday, June 18, 2011 10:17:00 pm said...

No, London General were the first company to order E400s Hybrids and Metroline were the first company to order E400s, although Stagecoach's Spirit Of London was the first E400 to enter service.

I've mentioned this also before, that the new TEHs are due in November.

Metroline have many double deck routes with contracts expiring in 2012. Whilst many are likely to stay with the existing fleet (if retained), do you think they might order a big batch of a new type, most likely either B9TL/MCV DD103 or B9TL Olympus or Mercedes powered Olympus Intregal.

From what you have said before looks like enviro400 is not their choice anymore and Wrightbus seems to be swamped with orders so must have long delivery times which might rule them out.

Metroline will not order the Olympus Integral, yeah Metroline have made a huge order already but it's unspecified atm, so we do not know what vehicle type it is, also yest the MCVD103LE and B9TL Olympus are on the cards.

@ anonymous- the new batch of TEH will convert fully routes 16 and 139 to hybrid operation, info obtained from tfl website. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/19654.aspx

Have Metroline any plans to introduce new Routemasters once available?

Jay says:
at: Sunday, June 19, 2011 4:33:00 pm said...

Metroline do not choose whether to introduce the new Routemaster, TFL allocate it companies, but given the choice, no they wouldn't. No company is going to buy one Bus for £500,000.

Woah that much money you could buy 50 buses from ADL

Anonymous
at: Sunday, June 19, 2011 5:56:00 pm said...

The reason why i said that VW's dont suit Metroline is because Metroline have never ordered Wright Eclipse Geminis before and the first ones were pretty recent and the VW's in Metroline Livery and Interior look a bit weird

Is 272 or 440 ever gonna get new buses

Jay says:
at: Sunday, June 19, 2011 6:51:00 pm said...

Not 50 Buses because ADL E200s cost £100,000 each and E400s cost £145,000 each so you do the maths. The 272 and 440's Buses are only four years old so short answer. No.

Jay says:

No one knows. But expect the next one to be a very big one! LOL. A lot of new Buses will be coming to London this year and next year.

ok so 272 and 440 buses are only 4 but do you know what year will they be getting new buses

Anonymous
at: Monday, June 20, 2011 6:23:00 pm said...

Yeah probably in another 6 years unless a new contract stipulates new buses

Jay says:
at: Monday, June 20, 2011 7:32:00 pm said...

Well when the 272 and 440 will be getting new Buses is dependent on the tender outcome for these two routes which is not for a while yet.

On the 2012 - 2013 tendering plan the 406, 418, 465, and 490 all have a * next to it meaning they could be put back two years. Does anyone know if are going to be put back yet or not?

Thanks

I know that 19, 82 and 113s tender is coming up next month. I that if 82 is retained, they will get VWs and 113 could get Volvo Olympus (VEL) and if retained 19 will probably be mixed with new DB300 and existing DB250.

The 7, 286 and 418 were all granted 2 year extensions about a month ago. TfL issues contract extensions about every 3 months, all other routes in tranches 383-391 are being tendered.

Tranches 373, 374 and 375 are overdue for tender award, tranche 377 award is due June, but TfL seem to suit themselves when they announce and ignore their indicative dates.

I don't understand why the 418 would not be pushed back but the 406 is because arn't they sort of classed as one route? As when the 406 gets to Epsom it turns into a 418 and after completion of a full circuit it turns back into a 406.

Thanks
Jack

Its such a shame that 105 is going to Metroline that leaves Greenford with Only Day routes am i right

Jay says:
at: Tuesday, June 21, 2011 3:09:00 pm said...

Yep. I think its good they won the 105, shows how much the company is growing. Now all we need to do is win the 65 and 120 at next tender.

when route c2 contract runs out what buses will replace the t reg ones (tp)

Jay says:

I highly doubt First will regain it.

at: Tuesday, June 21, 2011 8:02:00 pm said...

I think whoever wins the 120 should order E400s, as they have a high lower deck seating capacity (26), which will help to reduce overcrowding. A frequency increase should also take place.

I don't think it will be easy for London United to retain the route, as they do not operate the service reliably - two buses often running together, frequent curtailments (although mostly don't affect me), overcrowding and long gaps, coupled with using worn out buses, which are not even meant to be used, the "proper" buses being given to the 81. I really can't wait till the result is announced, due to be this September. And the next operator should also use the correct buses.

I would like to know what others think about buses other than the officially allocated ones being used, and what powers TfL have to ensure that the correct buses are used on the correct routes.

Thanks
Hassaan
