After being out and about for the best part of the day I decided I'd make use of the sun while it lasted so I visited Metroline's CELF Centre which is Metroline's central maintenance facility
This visit proved to be one of the better visits as I did receive some news on new vehicle orders and allocations. As most of us know, Metroline have won the 105 from First Centrewest, the Route is due to operate from PA. It was initially thought that Metroline would order TEs (Enviro 400s) to keep the chassis at PA strictly Trident and Scania. However Metroline ordered 18 VWs ( Volvo Wright Gemini 2s) for the Route. Their numbers will be VW1175 - 1192. The Route 274 contract was also retained by the company using the standard DEs (Dennis Enviro 200s) their numbers will be DE1156 - 1174 and the Route 209 which was recently retained will also be getting Enviro 200s, their numbers will be DE1152 - 1155, the surplus DEs from the 251 will make up the rest of the allocation.

why did metroline order VWs for route 105? is there any particular reason for this?
Have any of the London united tempos arrived at the garage and what are the fleet codes going to be?

They like the body of the VW and they also like the Volvo Chassis as it is very reliable.
No Tempos have arrived yet and I have no idea on the fleet codes.

1. I hope something more comfortable than Scania Omnicitys is ordered for route 120 when it is tendered next year, something like the Wright Eclipse Geminis. The SPs currently partially allocated are very uncomfortable. The old VA class buses beat them in terms of comfort, however the interior of them looks very tired and the V and W-reg ones also have stairs towards the back, which causes problems during overcrowding and when the wheelchair space is needed by prams.
What do you think their new buses will now be?
2. Also, at the top of the post, are DE1175 and VW1175 supposed to be overlapped in terms of the number?

I've corrected it. Its DE1174 and VW1175.

Does Metroline have any orders in place for 2011?
If so, what vehicles are due and when?
Thanks!

The confirmed orders for 2011 are the ones I stated above in the post.

Thanks,
Do you also know when these new vehicles are due to arrive?

The VWs are due to arrive in May and the DEs for the 274 will arrive in June/July. The DEs for the 209 will arrive in August.

Hi,
I was wondering, what is the address of Metroline's CELF facility?
Thanks!

Due to security reasons I'm not allowed to give out the address of this facility. If you want to go there I'd suggest you email Metroline. The only reason I'm allowed on site is due to the fact I'm classed as a 'friend' of Metroline.
So best thing to do is get in contact with them via email. The email address on their website.
Regards
Jamaal

Thats fine, I'll ask somone else. I fail to see why they'd not allow anyone to give out the adress, it's only a bus depot, not a secret hidden bunker.
