Today I visited CELF Center again for what may be the 30th time although the title may suggest otherwise. The reason for this visit was to view the new Dennis Enviro 200s for the 274, shown below, for the contract that commenced on June 25th 2011.

The new DEs are part of a batch consisting of 19 vehicles, numbered between DE1152 - 1170. The new DEs are an amazing 7,900Kgs which makes them the heaviest E200s in London on the Dennis Dart chassis. They are almost 400Kgs heavier than their 10 Reg sisters numbered DE1115 - 1151 for Routes 143 and C11. These vehicles were built at Plaxton's former Scarborough plant which is known the build heavier vehicles than the rest of the Alexander-Dennis plants. I also visited Perivale West Garage home to the recently won Route 105, it appears the VWs are growing nicely on the drivers and the staff at the Garage are looking forward to taking on a further 12 in January for the 297.

To be honest the New DE's look like they have already been in service.
ReplyDeleteThat is just the weather effects that make them look like that. In the flesh they look very fresh.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteAt PA, their seems to be a cut in the wall, in the far end of the depot, which can be seen from picture VW1175 LK11 CXJ, what is in that?
That is the opening to the storage facility at the Garage.
ReplyDeleteSo buses park inside that?
ReplyDeleteYes. The DEs.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamaal,
ReplyDeleteAre you going to be covering the closure of Upton Park Garage (my old garage) on 16th Sept '11 ?

I enjoy your blog immensely, keep up the great work.
Pete (My-Trusty-Instamatic)
Hi Peter, I know you from Flickr, I probably will do that later on this month for you, I'll make it a special one too, with loads of photos and memorabilia, if you know anyone with old photos of the garage or if you have old photos of the garage.
ReplyDeletePlease email me at circleoflondon@live.co.uk
Thank you for the support mate.
Hi Jamaal,
ReplyDeleteI know you said you often take pictures and do not put them up, do you have any pictures of inside that storage facility at PA please? just so i can get an idea of how big it is in their.
Keep up the good work mate.
No sorry I don't but I can gain some this week if you really want them. I'll prefer to send them by email rather than post them here.
ReplyDeleteOk Jamaal, that would be great.
ReplyDeletePlease send me your email via circleoflondon@live.co.uk

ReplyDeleteErm why do they say KX when they are meant to say KC.

Is there any update on 82 and 113's tender result.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fault on Alexander-Dennis' part. There is also no news on that tender.
ReplyDeleteI see the 4 new DE's for the 209 have arrived early and I think I know why the DE's for the 274 were slightly late i think its because ADL is full of orders am i right?
ReplyDeleteThank you
Do you also when these great looking buses are due to enter service thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to congratulate Metroline for keeping their old seat colours for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteThese Buses are actually for the 274 if you read my article and look at the pictures you will realize. They should enter service on the 274 within the next 3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI think that Metroline should use the 09 ones from the E8 on the 209, and place these on the E8 because they weigh almost 8 tonnes and the weight limit on Hammersmith Bridge is 7.5 tonnes. Out of intrest, do you know the weights of the MCV E200s? (190s buses)
ReplyDeleteI swear you said that DE1152-1155 are for 209 and here they are.
ReplyDeleteYes I did but if you read one of my previous posts you will see that I also mentioned that the fleets have been changed for both Routes.
ReplyDeleteOk sorry do you know if the DM's for 389 399 299 and W10 are arriving because they should be arriving any day now.
ReplyDeleteOm 209's new allocation will mainly consist of 09/59 reg buses from the lost 251.
ReplyDeleteNo I do not know when the DMs are arriving.
ReplyDelete207 will not get B9tl Gemini's instead they will get Scania Omnicities DD in late 2011
ReplyDeleteYep. That is true. The first few have been built already.
ReplyDeleteYou already know DAMMIT but where are the new Scania Omnicities now this is odd that First London are ordering Scanias i think the reason behind this is because ADL and Wrightbus are full of orders am I right?
ReplyDeleteVery much so, ADL and Wrightbus are at capacity and Scania were the only company who could offer First the Buses on time.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know about First London's prototype of the Wright streetlite does anyone know if First London will order them.
ReplyDeleteAre the 05/55/06 TEs Getting refurbished
ReplyDeleteDo you think metroline could gain 153 off Ct plus and operate it from KC.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it strongly that Metroline could gain the 153 because CT Plus is simply operating it well
ReplyDeleteWell Done CT Plus
Mr/Ms Anonymous Alexander Dennis introduced E400's in Jan 2006 and Metroline have 55 reg E400's 05 reg E400's never existed
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know what happen to the geminis used on 150 when first operated it?
ReplyDeleteCould someone explain why Metoline decided to operate the 251 from distant Cricklewood (W) when Edgware would have been operatioanlly more efficient. Interesting to note that with London Soverign winning the route they intend to operate it from none other than Edgware!
ReplyDeleteMetroline don't have enough room in their half of Edgware Garage for the 251, otherwise they most probably would run the route from there. I believe 251 drivers do take their meal breaks in EW though. Looks like Sovereign have more spare space in their half of the garage.
ReplyDeleteThe 251 had to move out (to North Wembley at first) to make way for the 186, which had to move to EW because of space constraints at Harrow Weald.
Looks to me like it was a strategic plan by Metroline...So they can limit the amount of new Buses required for the Route 209...
ReplyDeleteJamaal, Looks like current Metroline routes should be next for tender awards. Do you think 1) Metroline could get new buses in time (bearing in mind First had to buy omnicities and Abellio buses for route 3 might be late) and 2) at least some hybrids would be ordered for routes deep in Central London (eg 43, 83, C2 etc) with diesels for rest. Thanks for your thoughts
ReplyDeleteI know the 82 is on the cards to get some B5LH Hybrid Buses... I won't say anymore on that matter
ReplyDeleteMetroline have ordered 65 B95Ls on an unspecified body for Holloway.
Metroline this year and next year will take on the delivery of many double deck Buses...
Who here thinks 232 should use Double Decks as it is a busy route.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly there is a low bridge on North Circular Road, which carries the Piccadilly Line.
ReplyDeleteThere is no restriction on double-deckers on the 232 - the route used to be fully double-deck, and had scheduled double-deck school journeys over the entire route until 2004.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aaron that double-deckers would be good on the route, but more importantly it should be increased to 4bph at least.
No Hassan that bridge carries the East Coast Main line.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you Anonymous
Or if the tender results for 232 are going to be announced soon and if Metroline retain the contract they could possibly order Optare Olympuses with Trident chassis they could be classed as TEL.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way that bridge you were talking about is not that low.
ReplyDeleteapparently the 607 express route is going to be operated by metroline when it is put for tender
ReplyDelete607 is going to be operated by metroline????????
ReplyDeleteHow did you know?
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way this is great news because I didnt see First Retaining the contract it has old buses and its time they get new buses for 607 great news.
Jamaal - thanks for all the info, any idea when the Metroline B9TL's are due for delivery? Presumably they are to oust TP1-65 - will you be doing a farewell post for them in a similar way to the TA's?
ReplyDeleteHi, I just saw a VP 330 bus on the H12 with a buses Logo
ReplyDeleteStrangely I saw this Bus too in Wembley.
ReplyDeleteJamaal
ReplyDeletehas Metroline gained 607?
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteToday talking about VP 330 I also saw that vehicle on the 140.
ReplyDelete@Aaron I know someone that works with first and apparently they dont want to buy new buses for the 607
ReplyDeleteYesterday I saw DE1156 on 274 i see these buses are slowly being rolled out in service
ReplyDeleteJamaal, all your information is totally wrong, you never seem to get anything right, even though your a member of the bus forum. Ask your self, why would metroline have the 607? one of TFL's policy these days is to limit mileage, and to award routes to a operator with the nearest garage, next your be telling us, first got the 490/120/222/81 or something,
ReplyDeleteMr anonymous this is how I know your a complete idiot because if you read the posts properly instead of skim reading, you will notice that the post was not reported by me.
ReplyDeleteOne other thing you need to realize if Metroline were to operate the Route it would run from PV which is in the middle of the Route, which is more effective in terms of dead mileage in TFL's eyes. You also need to realize that the 607's dead mileage from White City to Uxbridge is actually the length of the whole route, which costs the company money as well as TFL who pay for the diesel which is the substance used to power the Buses.
Another thing is The 142,258 and 340 all run near Harrow Weald and Edgware Garages yet they are run from Garston which is miles out of London.
I do not have to justify my knowledge because my record will speak for itself.
Maybe you need to look inside yourself and know what you are talking about before you make unsubstantiated comments. The fact that you remain anonymous and slang abuse shows you are a coward.
Hi jamaal
ReplyDeletei was watch a video on youtube of the VP622
LK04UXE from Londonbuses1 and that VP sounded alot like the VPLs at EW.
That is because they are both on ZF Gearboxes mate. I think the VPLs make more of a whining noise...
ReplyDeleteWhy does only one bus in the HD fleet have a buses logo on both sides. This bus is VP 330 which i saw on th 182 today. That vus is the latest to come out of refurbs followed by Vp 488 which i havent seen yet. I think that all new refurbs will have thos. Do u know any information about this Jamaal. Thanks J
ReplyDeleteYes, All refurbished Buses will be getting the London Buses Roundel.
ReplyDeleteAaron: Like today I saw VP 332 on the 182 with the roundel logo
ReplyDeleteHey for some reason the New DM's at Northumberland Park dont have the buses logo.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamaal, can you please put on, what metroline are doing next. Many HD buses have been refurbed such as VP610and 332
