Changes in North London : 5th February 2011

Today signalled minor changes in the North London area, with the W4 leaving Arriva to be operated by First and the W5 leaving Metroline to be operated by CT Plus. Of course new Buses were out and about today, not that the general public would notice them. First opted for the Enviro 200 whereas CT Plus opted for the Optare Solo.

Certainly not the experience I had on the W4s on their first day - pretty much all the regular non-enthusiast users noticed.

The contract which Arriva gained for the W6 was for existing buses. It is not always the case for operators to retain/or gain a route to specify new buses. As in the case for the 67 and the 415 as an example. Of course existing vehicles would require a refurbishment.

Why do people think everything needs new buses? Try travelling outside London to see what wrecks are still running around...
